What is Manifest Cargo?

Your Pet Flies as Cargo, Not as Luggage

Manifest cargo means your pet flies in the plane's cargo area, in a safe, air-conditioned space, with its own paperwork. It's not the same as putting your pet under the seat or checking it in like a bag. This is the usual way to fly bigger dogs, cats travelling alone, or any pet that can't fly in the cabin. And your pet doesn't even have to fly on the same day as you.

Why pets fly this way

Most airlines only allow small pets (around 8–10 kg with the carrier) in the cabin. Bigger dogs simply can't fly that way — cargo is the only option. It's also how working dogs and pets on multi-flight international trips usually travel.

We deal with everyone, so you don't have to

There are a lot of people involved — the airline, customs at both ends, the quarantine office, and the airport ground staff. You don't need to talk to all of them. Petscort is your one contact for everything, from booking right through to your pet arriving.

Kept Cool and Comfortable

The cargo area is air-conditioned and pressurised, just like the cabin where passengers sit.

Officially Booked

Your pet gets its own booking number with the airline, so the shipment is always on record.

Safe, Approved Crate

We use crates that meet international airline safety rules for size and air flow.

Tracked the Whole Way

We follow your pet from pickup at your home, through the airport, to arrival at the other end.

How It Works

Four Easy Steps

1
Papers & Health Check

We get your pet's vaccine records, microchip details, and a health certificate from an approved vet, timed right for your destination.

2
Crate & Flight Booking

We pick the right size crate for your pet and book a confirmed seat for them on the airline's cargo flight.

3
Customs Clearance

We sort out the quarantine approval and customs paperwork before the travel day, and send you copies to keep.

4
Flight & Pickup

Your pet is checked in, loaded, and tracked during the flight, then handed over safely at the other end.

Plan for 2–4 weeks to get everything ready — vaccines, approvals, and a confirmed seat on the flight. The earlier you start, the better.

Questions People Ask Us

It means your pet flies in the plane's cargo area, with its own booking, instead of being checked in as luggage or kept under your seat. This is the usual way for bigger dogs, cats flying alone, or any pet whose airline won't allow cabin travel. Because it's officially booked, you can always check on its status.

Yes. The cargo area is air-conditioned and pressurised, just like where passengers sit. Airlines also won't fly pets when it's extremely hot or cold outside. We use crates that meet international safety standards and stay in touch with the airline's cargo team the whole way, so your pet is well looked after.

No, not at all. Your pet can fly on a different day than you, which is handy if you're travelling separately. You can also fly the same day if you want — either way, your pet has its own booking and doesn't depend on your ticket.

Usually: a current rabies vaccine certificate, your pet's microchip number, a health certificate from an approved vet, quarantine approval if needed, and an import permit for the destination country. Some countries also want a rabies blood test done a few months in advance. The exact list depends on where you're going — we'll tell you exactly what's needed for your trip.

Around 2 to 4 weeks before your travel date, to leave time for vaccines, approvals, and booking the flight. If your destination needs a rabies blood test, start much earlier — that test plus the waiting period can take 3 months or more. The sooner you reach out, the smoother it goes.

Any pet heavier than the airline's cabin limit (usually around 8–10 kg with the carrier), most medium and large dogs, and pets flying without their owner. Some airlines also won't let certain flat-faced breeds (like Pugs or Bulldogs) fly in the cabin at all, so cargo is the only choice for them too.

We keep an eye on your pet's flight in real time. If there's a delay or the flight gets rebooked, we talk directly to the airline's cargo team to make sure your pet is looked after during the wait, and we keep you updated until they're safely on the next flight.
